HVAC Engineer

Walker Cole International is exclusively supporting a leading engineering and life sciences project environment in the appointment of an HVAC Engineer.

The position will focus on the end-to-end design and delivery of mechanical and HVAC systems for complex, GMP-regulated facilities, supporting projects from concept through to detailed design and commissioning.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical and HVAC design activities across all RIBA stages, from concept through to detailed design.
• Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical support to procurement, planning, and construction teams.
• Support commissioning activities as required.
• Deliver detailed, procurement-ready designs including system sizing, equipment selection, space planning, and routing.
• Collaborate with CAD teams to produce high-quality design documentation.
• Engage with clients and specialist vendors to define and finalise design requirements.
• Attend client meetings and provide technical input throughout project delivery.
• Support statutory authority submissions with required technical documentation.
• Mentor and support junior engineers within a multi-disciplinary team.

Required experience and skills:

• HNC in Building Services Engineering (degree level preferred).
• Proven experience in HVAC and mechanical design within complex, regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of cGMP and ISO 14644 requirements.
• Experience designing for pharmaceutical, healthcare, or food manufacturing facilities.
• Technical expertise across building services systems including ventilation, cleanrooms, air conditioning, chilled water, heating systems (LTHW/MPHW/HPHW), steam, and process utilities.
• Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), compressed air, and specialist gases.
• Ability to deliver turnkey design solutions across HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
