We are hiring for an exciting position in North West England for a Microbiology Manager to lead their QC Microbiology function. This role plays a critical part in maintaining regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement within a cGMP environment. Managing a team of 15+, you will be promoting technical excellence, accountability, and adaptability while ensuring reliable delivery of microbiological testing.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direction to the QC Microbiology team, overseeing workloads, development, and performance.
Plan and coordinate laboratory schedules, resources, and projects to ensure efficient operations.
Lead investigations into OOS, OOT, and OOE results, quality events, and change controls, implementing robust root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
Serve as a technical expert for microbiological methods, supporting regulatory submissions and inspection readiness.
Ensure validated microbiological methods are maintained and monitored, tracking KPIs to uphold service quality.
Support audits and inspections while ensuring adherence to GMP and EHS standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Hands-on experience in a cGMP-regulated microbiology laboratory within pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical settings.
In-depth understanding of microbiological testing methods, including sterility, EM, endotoxin, and bioburden.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing laboratory teams.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills in a regulated environment.
This is a key leadership role where your guidance and expertise will directly contribute to product quality, compliance, and team performance in a dynamic QC setting.
